Nick Steeves, Clinical Mental Health Intern
My name is Nicholas Steeves, and I am an intern at Lighthouse Counseling. I am in my second year in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University. I have just begun my journey in the field of mental health, but I am passionate and excited to support my clients in their pursuit of healing, wellness, and growth. I have spent time in many industries, and I am most recently transitioning from a position in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic.
I am a fully trained therapist, and I am particularly passionate about working with clients experiencing Grief, Bereavement, and Death and Dying issues. During my time in the Emergency Medical Services, I continually encountered the physical, emotional, and spiritual difficulties that ripple out as a result of illness, injury, and death. I feel called to address the damages that occur mentally, emotionally, and spiritually from these events, and helping people cope and heal from these damages is incredibly satisfying to me.
In addition, I am also interested in working with clients seeking treatment for anxiety, depression, adjustment, men’s issues, substance abuse, trauma, and couples counseling. My primary approach to therapy is Existential, meaning that I believe my clients will be best helped by focusing on confronting the uncertainties and conflicts inherent in life. I feel that people have the ability to shape their future, and I focus on empowering my clients to determine their own paths in life. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy modalities and techniques in my clinical practice.
I hope to provide a space for my clients that is supportive, warm, and safe. I wish to walk alongside my clients on their journeys, and I will strive to fulfill your unique needs as we work towards healing and wellness together.
