Hanna Bakken, MA, LPC
My name is Hanna Bakken and I have a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology as of December 2020. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been with Lighthouse Counseling since 2020. I am a current member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Wisconsin Counseling Association, along with being a National Board Certified Counselor.
While my professional experience with counseling is still evolving, I have 22 years of experience working with families and children who autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I have a passion for helping children who have chronic medical conditions and how that affects families as a whole. Chronic medical conditions create grief within the family structure where each person needs a different type of support to work through their personal thoughts and feelings. Additionally, as a mom to children with allergies and medical conditions, I bring a sense of understanding that families and children face on a daily basis. Furthermore, I provide child/adolescent and adult individual therapy for a variety of challenges as such depression, anxiety, identity development, adjustment, self-esteem issues, and grief.
The therapeutic approaches I use are based on the needs of the client and how to help foster growth. I use client-centered, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, and cultural backgrounds. I am a firm believer that everyone has a story and I enjoy hearing personal stories about challenges and successes. I am committed to hearing individual stories and helping clients work towards being the best version of themselves.
