Jeff Ferguson, MS, LPC, SC
My name is Jeff Ferguson, and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) based in Wisconsin. I completed my Master's Degree in Community Counseling at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. With over 12 years of experience, I specialize in offering couples therapy, as well as individual therapy for both adults and children.
Throughout my career, my true passion has always been working with children and adolescents. However, I also have a genuine interest in helping adults and couples. I strongly believe that children are heavily influenced by their home environment, so my therapeutic focus revolves around the family and the impact of the environment on individuals. In my practice, I take a holistic approach, incorporating various therapeutic modalities such as solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and play therapy techniques. When I work with children, I make it a point to actively engage with them by getting down to their level and utilizing my sense of humor to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in working with teenagers, and I find that I can quickly establish respect and trust by being patient, kind, and gentle while also holding them responsible for their behaviors. My approach is fair, honest, and focused on producing positive results.
In addition to my general counseling expertise, I have undergone specialized training in trauma therapy, play therapy, and Attachment Disorder therapy. I am well-versed in supporting individuals with multiple diagnoses and mental illnesses. I also have a particular interest in working with the Hard of Hearing (HOH) population and children with Asperger Syndrome/Autism. I obtained my EMDR certification in 2006, and I integrate various trauma therapy modalities, such as HMR, EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS, into my counseling practice. This enables me to assist individuals dealing with extreme trauma, single incident trauma, and long-term abuse.
My areas of specialty include trauma, EMDR/HMR, family conflicts, depression, social skills, anger management, grief, loss, or bereavement, low self-esteem, Pervasive Developmental Disorders (Autism/Asperger Syndrome), parenting skills, adjudicated juvenile delinquency, adjustment issues, ADD & ADHD, anxiety and stress, communication skills, behavior management for young children and adolescents, as well as school-related issues and behavior problems.
With my wealth of experience, compassion, and comprehensive approach, I am committed to providing effective counseling services to individuals, couples, and families, guiding them towards positive growth and healing.
